Friday Night Singing with The Perkins

Each month, the Greater Cincinnati Southern Gospel Music Association hosts a Friday Night Singing at McKelvey Road Baptist Church in Fairfield, OH. On March 2nd, I will be taking part in one of these singings along with the Perkins Quartet. Doors open at 5:30pm, and dinner will be served starting at 6:30, with music beginning at 7.

For those of you who are unaware, my brother, Dale, sings tenor for the Perkins, and this will be the first show that we’ve done together since he joined the group. I’m really looking foward to this!!

Changes….

I am writing this not as a press release, but as an open letter/personal note to everyone who has listened to and supported my music. The last few years have seen many changes, and as always, change is inevitable. One can either resist it or go with it….

Since 2002, I have been singing professionally as a southern gospel soloist. I’ve recorded several albums and have sung at many local and regional events. In 2007, I was blessed to spend some time with Acclaim Quartet, and once that door closed, I returned to my solo SG work. This is the music I was raised on and the style I always have and always will dearly love, no matter what I may be singing or playing.

Aside from my time with Acclaim and a few new solo songs, I have not recorded a full album of new material since Spirit of Christmas in 2006, over 5 years ago. Since then, I have met (and married) the love of my life and seen my family continue to grow. I have also seen my fair share of road blocks along the way. These highs and lows have all taken my attention away from singing, and as a result, my recording and solo concerts have been very few and far between.

This past summer, I had made plans to record a new country album, Family Portrait, to be released the following fall. Needless to say, thanks to various issues (some good and some not so good), this album never came to be. It is still something I would like to do one day, and at least one of the songs will see a special single release later this year, but for now, the Family Portrait concept has been put on hold.

As many of you know, about a year ago I became the contemporary worship leader at Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati. This has been such a blessing in so many ways, and to be honest, was not something I had ever really planned on, but as they say, if you wanna make God laugh, tell him your plans. As a result, over the last few months, I have felt God leading me down a new path with my music. I have developed a passion for leading worship, and my own singing and playing have evolved to include a multitude of musical styles (even in ’06 with my Christmas album, there was a noticeable change in my sound from previous efforts). As I said, my first musical love will always be southern style gospel quartet music, but after much prayer and consideration, I feel that God is calling me into a much broader musical scope.

With this in mind, I am excited to announce that through my own record label, Blaidecton Enterprises, I will be recording and releasing an entirely new music project aimed at the modern worship market with a mixture of classic and modern worship selections, some new compositions, and a few favorites, all fused with a southern flavor in an effort to create something truly unique yet still relevant and, most importantly, giving glory to God. I hope to have it finished and released by this summer. As it nears completion, I will let everyone know an exact release date, as well as how and where you can get a copy (and if you keep checking back here, you may find some behind the scenes photos and videos, sneak peaks, and a few other exclusive goodies leading up to the release!).

This does not mean that I am abandoning southern gospel music by any means. My previous albums will still be available, and I will still integrate some of these songs into both my personal appearances and future recordings (including the one I am currently working on). I’m simply “expanding and diversifying,” so to speak.

I am still actively booking personal appearances, and would love to come sing and worship with you. If you would like more information, or would like to book me for an event, all you gotta do is send an email to booking@kyleboreing.com. We will get you all the info you need to book me at your church, retreat, festival, what have you.

I ask that you pray for me as I begin this new musical chapter, both in the studio and on the road, and that above all else, God be honored and glorified as a result. I can’t tell you how excited I am to see what He has in store….

Thanks, and God bless!!!
Kyle
